Frequently asked questions

Is BABEL.TRAVEL a free alternative to Wanderlog?
Yes. Searching, comparing prices, building AI itineraries, group voting (YayOrNay) and using the Zapi AI assistant on BABEL.TRAVEL are 100% free. You only pay if you book through a partner site like Booking.com or Aviasales.
Does BABEL.TRAVEL replace Wanderlog Pro?
For most travellers, yes. BABEL.TRAVEL covers Wanderlog's collaborative itinerary + map use case for free, and adds real-time flight, hotel, train, car and activity search plus an AI travel agent — features that Wanderlog Pro does not include.
Can I plan a trip with friends like in Wanderlog?
Yes — through YayOrNay, BABEL.TRAVEL's group planner. Everyone swipes yay or nay on destinations, hotels and activities and the group converges on a shared plan, with the leader confirming each step.
Does BABEL.TRAVEL work offline like Wanderlog?
BABEL.TRAVEL is a Progressive Web App, so itineraries you've already opened can be viewed offline on iOS and Android. Wanderlog's offline experience is more polished for fully native use; BABEL.TRAVEL trades a small amount of offline depth for live booking and AI.
Which app has better AI: Wanderlog or BABEL.TRAVEL?
BABEL.TRAVEL's Zapi AI assistant is multilingual (12 languages), can build a complete day-by-day itinerary from a one-line prompt, suggest destinations within a budget and answer travel questions on chat or by phone. Wanderlog's AI features are limited to itinerary suggestions inside an existing trip.
Is Wanderlog better for road trips than BABEL.TRAVEL?
Compare available options on Babel. Coverage and prices depend on the provider, route and date. Confirm the final price and booking terms with the partner. AI assistance can make mistakes; this is not an independently tested replacement for another service.
Can I import a Wanderlog trip into BABEL.TRAVEL?
Direct import is not supported, but you can paste your Wanderlog itinerary into Zapi AI and ask her to rebuild it as a BABEL.TRAVEL plan with live prices for flights, hotels and activities — usually under a minute.
Do I need an account to plan a trip on BABEL.TRAVEL?
No. You can search flights, hotels and activities, build a Zapi AI itinerary and join a YayOrNay group session without signing up. An account is only needed if you want to save trips across devices, get price-drop alerts or publish a community blog post — and signup uses email + OTP, no password.
How does BABEL.TRAVEL make money if it's free?
BABEL.TRAVEL earns an affiliate commission only when you book on a partner site (Booking.com, Expedia, Aviasales, Hertz, GetYourGuide, etc.). The commission comes out of the partner's margin — the price you pay is identical to what you'd pay booking direct. No subscription, no premium tier, no ads.
Does BABEL.TRAVEL have a mobile app?
BABEL.TRAVEL is a Progressive Web App, so you install it from your phone's browser (Add to Home Screen on iOS, Install on Android) and it behaves like a native app — full-screen, offline access to opened itineraries, push notifications. Wanderlog ships native iOS/Android apps if you prefer a native install.
