TripIt vs BABEL.TRAVEL

Which travel app should you use in 2026 — TripIt's email-parsed itinerary or BABEL.TRAVEL's AI planner with live booking?

Quick answer

Compare available options on Babel. Coverage and prices depend on the provider, route and date. Confirm the final price and booking terms with the partner. AI assistance can make mistakes; this is not an independently tested replacement for another service.

Frequently asked questions

Is BABEL.TRAVEL a free alternative to TripIt Pro?
Yes. Zapi AI itinerary planning, group voting, flight + hotel + car + activity search and the AI travel assistant are 100% free on BABEL.TRAVEL. You only pay if you book through a partner. TripIt Pro is a paid annual subscription.
Does BABEL.TRAVEL parse confirmation emails like TripIt?
Not yet — BABEL.TRAVEL focuses on the planning + booking side of the trip. If you've already booked everything, TripIt's email-parsing organiser is still the simplest way to consolidate confirmations. For everything before booking, BABEL.TRAVEL is the better tool.
Can BABEL.TRAVEL build an itinerary like TripIt?
Yes, and it goes further. Tell Zapi 'I want 5 days in Rome on a 1000 EUR budget' and she returns a day-by-day plan with hotels, activities, restaurants and live transport prices. You can edit, swap or rebook any item directly.
Does BABEL.TRAVEL work in multiple languages?
Yes. The interface, the AI assistant Zapi and the bot-prerendered SEO pages all work in 12 languages: English, Romanian, German, Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch, Polish, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Hindi and Chinese.
Can my group plan together like in TripIt?
Yes — through YayOrNay, BABEL.TRAVEL's group planner. Each member swipes yay or nay on destinations, hotels and activities, and the group converges on a shared plan with the trip leader confirming the final picks.
Does BABEL.TRAVEL show flight delays and gate changes?
Real-time flight alerts are not part of BABEL.TRAVEL — that's a TripIt Pro strength. Most airlines now push gate-change notifications via their own apps; BABEL.TRAVEL focuses on the steps before and during planning.
Can I use both TripIt and BABEL.TRAVEL?
Absolutely — they complement each other. Use BABEL.TRAVEL to plan and book; forward the partner confirmation emails to TripIt to organise them in one feed if you prefer.
Do I need an account to plan a trip on BABEL.TRAVEL?
No. Search, comparison, Zapi AI itinerary building and joining a YayOrNay group session all work without signup. An account is only required to save trips across devices, get price-drop alerts or publish a community blog post — and signup uses email + OTP, no password.
How does BABEL.TRAVEL make money if it's free?
BABEL.TRAVEL earns an affiliate commission only when you book on a partner site (Booking.com, Expedia, Aviasales, Hertz, GetYourGuide, etc.). The commission comes out of the partner's margin — the price you pay is identical to direct booking. No subscription, no premium tier, no ads, unlike TripIt Pro's annual fee.
Does BABEL.TRAVEL have a mobile app like TripIt?
BABEL.TRAVEL is a Progressive Web App — install it from your phone's browser (Add to Home Screen on iOS, Install on Android) and it behaves like a native app with offline itineraries and push notifications. TripIt offers traditional native iOS and Android apps.
