Great-circle distance multiplied by DEFRA 2024 per-km factor (short / medium / long-haul), cabin class multiplier, and ICAO Radiative Forcing Index of 1.9 for high-altitude contrail effects.
What is the Eco-Choice badge?
Any flight, train or car option that emits at least 10% less CO2 than the average for the same route receives a green Eco-Choice badge.
How much CO2 does a train save vs flying?
On a typical European route a high-speed electric train emits 80-95% less CO2 per passenger than the equivalent flight. We show the comparison directly when both options exist.
Can I offset my emissions?
